Despite the worst weather for many years and the lowest scores produced in some games, John Curran (4-4-6) shone through with 14 dolls as Black Swan beat The Plough Garsington 3-0 in Section 2 of the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

Black Swan won all three legs 19-12, 14-9, 21-9 with Curran's teammate, Tony O'Brien, the only other player to hit double figures with ten.

Andy Burns (5-5-5) dodged the heavy rain by playing indoors, and hit 15 dolls for Kidlington Sports as they beat hosts New Club 3-0.

Keith Quinell (6-4-3) smashed off 13 dolls as Kidlington took maximum points in a 27-16, 30-23, 25-18 scoreline.

Red Lion secured an important 2-1 victory at Section 1 leaders Three Pigeons to close the gap to one point.

Red Lion edged the first leg 20-19, but the Pigeons levelled the match by taking the second leg 24-20.

Red Lion took the last leg 21-17. Mick Berry top-scored with 11 dolls.

Green Road Club won their opening leg against Quarry Gate B in Section 3 on three sticks after tying 22-22.

They capitalised on that by taking the next two legs 22-14, 14-9 for a 3-0 win. Simon Hopkins and Terry Lester both hit 11 dolls.

In Section 4, Darren Trinder (5-3-5) hit 13 dolls, but it proved to be unlucky as Vikings A lost 2-1 to Red Lion Eynsham.

Vikings took the opening leg 22-20, but lost the next two 20-18, 24-23.

Mark Revill hit a six in his ten dolls for Red Lion.

Darren Cox (3-4-6) was another who clanged off 13 dolls and ended up on the losing side as Team Monarch went down 2-1 at home to Kennington Social Club in Section 6.

After losing the first two legs 15-13, 17-15, Team Monarch were set 13 in the final leg, and anchor man Cox, needing four to win, smashed off a six.

Red Cow beat Eight Bells 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash in Section 7.

Red Cow took the first two legs 11-7, 12-7, but Eight Bells fought back to take the final leg 12-9.

Rob Shouler (5-2-4) top scored with 11 dolls for Red Cow.

Jason Coates (6-4-2) hit 12 dolls, but it was to no avail as White Hart lost 2-1 at Gladiators in Section 8.

Gladiators went into an early lead, winning the first leg 16-13, and then set 21 in the second leg.

Anchor man Jason Coates whipped off the four dolls needed to level the match, taking the leg by the odd doll.

Gladiators then set the final leg with 14, but it was enough as The White Hart fell two short.

Black Horse stay top after coming from behind to beat Six Bells 2-1. Oaken Guney top scored with nine dolls.

Northway Club move two points clear in Section 10 after beating Donnington Club B 2-1.

Teams in Section 2 should note that the Royal Sun are now playing their home games at the White Hart, Wolvercote.
