STEVE Townsend won the second round of the Oxford Summer League, fished by seven teams of six on the River Thames at Sandford and Appleford.

The Drennan Oxford Aqua angler drew bottom end peg at Sandford and caught bream on the pole at 16m with worm on the hook over groundbait and worm for 26lb 6oz 0drms.

Second-placed Adam Durnford (Sensas A4 Green) had roach and perch on the whip and maggot for 11.8.0, Trevor Chalk (Isis) third with 11.3.0.

It was a family affair as Harry Oliver won the sixth round of Yarnton AC’s Summer League.

After their original venue had been double booked, the eight anglers were forced to travel to House Pool on the Tunnel Farm Barn complex in Warwickshire.

Harry, on the golden peg, netted around 75 carp for a winning weight of 118.14.0 all caught on pellet shallow.

Second place went to Harry’s younger brother, Jacob, with 68.10.0 and dad Pete just squeezed home for third place, also fishing pellet shallow, with 47.2.0 with just 5lb back to sixth.

Kevin Jeacock triumphed in Beehive AC’s match on a windy Lower Court with 89lb grass carp to 14lb on pole and corn.

Les Radford was second with 56.2.0 and Alan Bond (18.0.0) third.
