JANET Cooksey won silver and bronze medals at the Veterans’ European Championships in Cognac, France
The 79-year-old, from Upton, near Banbury produced a fine display in the over 75 age group.
Her silver came in the 13-strong epee event, losing out to the host nation’s Marie-Chantal Demaille, the most successful veteran fencer ever with 39 world and European gold medals.
Cooksey, pictured, then took bronze in the foil event taking her tally to 12 European medals overall.
