The Oxford angler triumphed with 92lb 8oz 0drms of pole caught F1’s on maggot at 11m.
Steventon’s Dave Wilson was the runner-up, employing short-range lead tactics with pva bagged pellets for a fine net of mainly carp, which weighed 83.0.0.
Dave Roberts, from Coventry, used similar tactics but on the method feeder and was third with 78.12.0.
Andy Benwell leads the standings with four points, from Craig Partridge and Steve Cantwell, who both have six.
