BARRY Ruffels starred with 15 dolls as Garsington Sports Club edged out New Club A in an epic top-flight battle, writes ANDY BEAL.

The visitors triumphed 2-1 in a match which saw two legs go to a shoot-out and the other decided by a single shot.

Garsington set 21 in the opener, New Club anchor man John Horton needing five to tie but only managing four.

However, the hosts hit back and drew level on three sticks after the teams drew 22-22 in the second.

And after the deciding leg was also tied 22-22, Garsington eventually triumphed 3-1 on a one-stick shoot-out.

Ruffels was their star performer with leg scores of 4-5-6.

Charlie Buckingham also notched 15 dolls (6-4-5) as Woodman chopped down Chequers A 3-0.

He was well supported by Jeff Glenister’s 13 (6-4-3) and Mark Rollins, who also hit a six, as they won 31-23, 25-18, 25-20.

Geoff Townsend threw well for Chequers with 14 dolls (5-5-4).
