SIMON Smith claimed the week’s two biggest checkouts to help TJ’s A crush the visiting Democrats 7-2 in the all-Premier Section clash.

The home side got off to a flying start as they swept the pairs in the Cowley Workers ODDA fixture.

Adam Bowman reduced the arrears, but Democrats’ hopes were quickly snuffed out.

Jon Jukes, Smith – whose win included checkouts of 156 band 150 – Terry Wood and Arran Stevens all won for TJ’s, before Lennon Craddock (180) secured a consolation victory for the visitors.

Darren Allan hit two maximums in Cowley Workers A’s 6-3 home win against Chequers Inn.

Allan helped them into a 4-1 lead, following a 2-1 pairs success and victory from Michael Oliver.

A fine win from Mick O’Leary got one back for Chequers, but Kev Coleman responded.

Mick Kennett produced finishes of 120 and 108 to make it 5-3, before Michael Slatter took the final game for the Workers.

Kidlington Football Club came from behind to beat hosts Catherine Wheel 5-4.

Sean and Michael Ashburner gave the home side a perfect start.

Lee Maycock got Kidlington on the board, before Dale Jacobs restored the two-match cushion.

But Pete Smith and Mick Richardson both won to level the scores and the recovery was completed by a 2-1 pairs victory.

Newly-promoted Original Swan A edged past Blackbird Leys Bowls Club 5-4 at home in Ladies’ Section 2.

Shannon Billingham got them off to a strong start, but Nicola Merritt levelled for the visitors.

Tina Kirton and Bev Walton opened a gap for Swan, but they were pegged back, thanks to Kat Padfield and Lisa Wallace.

When the hosts got ahead for the third time, they were not to be denied and a 2-1 pairs win sealed a slender overall victory.
