OXFORDSHIRE climbed to sixth place in Division 1 of the BDO Inter-Counties Championship after beating Hertfordshire 25-14 at home.

Victory in their re-arranged game helped boost the side’s survival hopes, but they have now played a match more than their rivals.

The Ladies’ B team started the fixture with a 3-3 draw.

Allyson Thomson’s win for Oxon was cancelled out, before player of the match Jaine Telling made it 2-1.

But Cali Birch was then needed to hold her nerve as the hosts had to come from behind to share the spoils.

The men’s B excelled once again to triumph 9-3 for an overnight lead of six points.

Wins for Brandon Richardson, Andrew Quinn and man of the match Ade Larner saw Oxon start well.

Herts hit back with two victories, before Simon Tricker, Darren Hammond, Liam Gregor, Stuart White, Pete Smith and Terry Wood led the hosts to a 12-6 lead after the first day.

Oxon endured a tough start to Sunday, with the ladies’ A team beaten 4-2, Sandra Cox and player of the match Kim Ledbury victorious.

Herts took first blood in the men’s A clash, before Lennon Cradock and Preben Krabben hauled the home side two points closer to victory.

They didn’t have to wait long as Oxon went on to win 8-4, thanks to man of the match Michael Kearns, Adam Bowman, Simon Key, Jon Jukes, Sean Holley and Kevin Lowe.
