OXFORDSHIRE’S Under 16 Shires League team made a flying start to 2019 by winning back-to-back matches.

An emphatic 18-2 victory over Avon 2nd was followed by a 13-7 success over Devon.

Adam Burden, Harry Jones, Matt Dunn, Albie Marriott, Holly Craig, Rebecca Norkett, Eleanor Hoch and Catherine Cousins were all in top form.

There were also some notable individual performances by county junior players.

Ben Horseman and Jason Ou travelled to the Netherlands for the Carlton International Youth tournament.

Horseman was part of the England side that triumphed in the team competition as well as winning gold in the under 13 boys doubles and a bronze in the mixed.

Ou also enjoyed a successful tournament, winning bronze in the highly-competitive under 13 boys singles.

There were also a host of medals won domestically.

Ethan Rose collected two golds at the Nottingham under 17 gold tournament.

The 16-year-old former national junior champion won the boys doubles and mixed titles.

Horseman took singles gold at the Webber under 15 silver tournament in Milton Keynes, while Ou clinched bronze in both singles and boys’ doubles in the Yorkshire under 15 silver event.
