ETHAN Rose had a double reason to celebrate this week.

After helping Oxfordshire under 18s complete an unprecedented unbeaten record in the Shires League, the youngster, from Oakley, learned he had been selected to represent England in this month’s Under 17 Six Nations tournament at Milton Keynes.

Rose was a key member of the Oxon under 18 side, who finished their league programme with a 14-6 victory over Hampshire at St Helen & St Katharine School, Abingdon.

The team now have to wait until the end of the month to find out who they will play in the league play-offs, with the winners qualifying for a place in the end-of-season finals.
