VIKINGS A recovered from an early scare to beat Headington Conservative Club on aggregate points after a 3-3 draw in the Oxford Threes competition, writes PETE EWINS.
Keith Hollis (6,710) put Oxford & District League Division 2 side Headington in front at Berinsfield, before Ian Moss (5,920) levelled.
Roger Tomlin and Dave Gordon increased Headington’s lead to 3-1.
Moss (10,510, break of 9,620) won again for Vikings, before Alan Oliver (3,440) levelled.
At Headington Conservative Club, Mark Trafford beat Ian Gordon 2-0 in the Off The Spot Singles.
John Patey triumphed by the same scoreline against Dave Rose in the Pat Webber Cup.
Bob Parsons beat Vinnie Brown on aggregate points in the Never Won Cup at Donnington Club.
Richard Garrett and Terry Green won their pairs 3-0 against Phil McFarland and John Boal at Vikings Club.
