Teams skipped by Banbury Central’s Caroline Campion and Banbury Borough’s Maureen Osbourne have qualified for the National Triples Championships at Royal Leamington Spa in August.

Campion, along with Carole Galletly and Stella Amos, went through with a 15-13 semi-final victory over Oxford City & County’s Donna Knight, Katherine Hawes and Gail Gilkes.

Osbourne, Margaret Morris and Leslie Jones, a substitute for Angie Ives, beat City & County’s Maggie Alderson, Carol Gaskins and Carol Penson 17-11 in the other semi.

Quarter-finals: C Campion 19, A Gilkes 4; D Knight 22, M Plested 13; G Robbins 16, M Osbourne 22; C Penson 24, N Nicoll 1.

Semi-finals: C Campion 15, D Knight 13; M Osbourne 17, C Penson 11.

OXFORDSHIRE Ladies defeated Berkshire 46-40 in the Walker Cup (National County Double Rink competition) at Banbury Chestnuts.

Katherine Hawes’s side of Annie Gilkes, Hazel Woodward and Jeanette Berry finished first with a 26-18 defeat by Jane Porter.

But Caroline Campion’s four of Ann Spearman, Carol Morgan and Donna Knight defeated Berkshire’s Lilian Holliday 28-14 to secure victory.

Oxon now face Kent in the regional semi-finals at Suttons BC, Surrey on Sunday, July 14.
