A large contingent of Oxford-shire competitors will be in the huge Great Britain team for the World Cup Regatta which starts at Eton Dorney tomroow, writes Mike Rosewell.
The Oxford contingent in-cludes Olympic champion Andy Triggs Hodge stroking the GB eight and Frances Houghton in the women’s double scull.
Olympic medallsts, brothers Richard and Peter Chambers, from the Oxford Brookes stable, must be in contention for a medal in the men’s lightweight double.
Wallingford have three members – Kathryn Twyman, Bria-nna Stubbs and Eleanor Piggott – in the women’s lightweight doubles.
l Radley College and St Edward’s School boosted their chances of avoiding a qualification race for the forthcoming Henley Royal Regatta with strong performances at Marlow.
Both finished second in their respective six-crew Saturday intermediate 1 eights finals – Radley to Eton and St Edward’s to Hampton. The Radley crew also reached the final of the senior eights but withdrew with an injury. Consolation came on Sunday when they won the intermediate 1 eights. The Radley J15 crew came second in their event.
Oxford Brookes had a trio of top three finishes in the eights.
Wallingford gained three wins and three seconds, the bulk coming from their veteran members.
