Judd Trump believes his stirring form and big-match temperament at this season’s Masters can stand him in good stead for the World Championships.

Trump was at his free-flowing best en route to beating Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-4 in the final, adding to the UK Championship title he bagged back in 2011.

It means just the World Championship is missing from his Triple Crown collection – a tournament he has struggled in since becoming the youngest player since 1990 to reach the final, also in 2011.

Nearly 30, the title of up and coming star is long deserting Trump and the time to turn talent into trophies is now for the Bath cueman, looking to add to the two trophies he has already bagged this season.

“It’s definitely my favourite event, the atmosphere around Sheffield is amazing and it gives you a buzz that you don’t get anywhere else,” Trump said of his latest visit to the Crucible.

“It’s always sold out and there’s a great crowd and that brings out the best of the players.

“The Masters was an experience I needed, it’s the second biggest event and being able to beat Ronnie under that spotlight is definitely going to help if I’m in a similar position here.

“I’ve gained valuable experience this season, winning the Masters is definitely a weight lifted off my shoulders and there’s just the World Championship to tick off.”

Trump is involved in one of the picks of the first-round draw, with he and fellow left-hander Thepchaiya Un-Nooh considered two of the quickest and best break-builders in the game.

Trump added: “It’s a very exciting game, I’m very happy for the draw and I’m very excited for this one – we’re both going to have similar styles of play and he’s very good to watch.

“It’s a game that I’ll like, and I think there will be a lot of flowing snooker and we’ll match up well.”
