JOE Edwards has become the latest experienced head to re-sign for Oxford City Stars.

The 31-year-old will be back at Oxpens next season as he aims to add to his tally of more than 140 goals for the club.

Home-grown forward Edwards has been waiting since March 2020 to return to action and is excited for a fresh start under head coach Dean Birrell.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting back to it with the team under Dean’s direction after a long time off.

“It will be a great night when we finally get on the ice for the first time in front of all the fans.

"I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and picking up where we left off.”

Edwards adds to the growing list of Stars players to re-sign, which now stands at seven.

He joins Josh Florey, Ross Miller, Dax Hedges, Jake Williams, Matt Lawday and Logan Prince in already committing to another year at Oxpens, while Chris Cooke has arrived after leaving Bracknell Hornets.

Birrell knows players like Edwards will play an important role when Stars return to action next season.

He said: “Joe is an experienced player and an important part of the squad.

“I am looking forward to working with him and helping him deliver a big season.”
