JOSH Florey will be back at home town club Oxford City Stars next season.

The 29-year-old, who can play in defence and attack, has re-signed with the Oxpens-based outfit for 2021/22.

Stars are aiming to be back playing in NIHL Division One South in September, which would end an 18-month wait for competitive action.

And Florey cannot wait to return to normality with Dean Birrell’s men.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice again after a strange 18 months.

“Dean is putting a strong squad together and the additional coaching staff speaks volumes of where the club is headed.

“I’m looking forward to being part of that.”

Birrell added: “Josh is a big part of the squad and we’re pleased to have secured him for another season.

“He is a leader and a good player and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Florey is the sixth player to commit to Stars having already played for the club.

Ross Miller, Dax Hedges, Jake Williams, Matt Lawday and Logan Prince have all re-signed in the last fortnight.

They have also secured the services of experienced D-Man Chris Cooke, who was a free agent after leaving Bracknell Hornets.

The 26-year-old has captained the Berkshire club and played for England Under 16s and 18s.
