JOE Edwards, one of Oxford City Stars’ leading scorers over the past five years, has re-signed for another season with the English National Ice Hockey League club.

Since he returned after one season icing for Milton Keynes Thunder in 2011-12, Edwards has amassed 62 goals and 59 assists in 131 games for the Stars – an impressive total of 121 points overall.

Edwards is eager for another season with the club.

“I can’t wait to get back on the ice with the guys,” he said.

“I have been here a long time now and there is no better feeling than working with this team and representing these fans.

I’ve always shared an interest in developing the juniors and getting on the ice with them on Wednesdays at practice, and merging the two organisations was a logical step that had to be taken to develop the future Stars.”

New head coach, Kenny Redmond welcomed the signing.

“It’s great to have another local lad and born leader back,” he said.

“Joe has great individual skill, has an eye for goal, and leads by example, which inspires his teammates.”
