CHINNOR were involved in more late drama, but fell to their first defeat in five games as basement boys Loughborough Students triumphed 48-46.
The result in Leicestershire saw the Thame-based side slip to fourth in National League 1.
Loughborough took an early 7-0 lead, thanks to Thibaud Flament’s try, converted by Charlie Reed.
But Chinnor quickly responded when Greg Goodfellow went over.
The early scoring continued as Victor Keunen crossed for Loughborough.
Goodfellow kicked a penalty for Chinnor, before two tries from Craig Holland saw the visitors lead 22-14.
A Harry Priestner try and a Reed penalty, saw the hosts go two points ahead.
But Chinnor made it 29-22 at the break when Reon Joseph crossed.
Two tries in the first six minutes of the second half from Will Attfield and Reed put the hosts 38-29 in front.
Chinnor hit back through Joseph, but the students made it 45-36, when Oskar Hirskyk-Douglas went over.
The visitors replied again through a catch and drive, before Holland’s penalty made it 46-45.
However, they conceded a penalty on 77 minutes and Reed, who converted six of his side’s tries, was on target to deny them another nail-biting win.
Goodfellow kicked five conversions for Chinnor.
Henley Hawks beat London Irish Wild Geese 38-15 away from home in National League 2 South.
Alex Bradley’s try put the visitors in front, but the hosts led 7-5 when Scott Moore touched down, Ollie Turner converting.

Tries from MacDougall, Dan Barnes and Sam Randall, Giles converting twice, saw Hawks lead 31-10.
Irish replied through Chris Browne, but Henley had the last say when Scott White went over, Giles adding the extras.
