OXFORD beat Harwell 29-22 at home in a thrilling BB&O Championship encounter.
The sides observed a minute’s silence in memory of former Oxford colt Tom Quick.
And four tries in the first 25 minutes saw the hosts open up a 24-0 lead.
Ali Gibb (2), Luke Kimber and Elias Charlett crossed, with Harry Gillett adding two conversions.
But Harwell were not finished and hit back to make it 24-22, thanks to tries from Dave Edwards, Lewis Giddings and Connor Dougan.
Andy Lee slotted two conversions and a penalty.
However, Oxford composed themselves and Charlett broke through to score.
Elsewhere, Faringdon lost 20-18 at Aldermaston, while Chipping Norton were beaten 27-3 by Berkshire Shire Hall.
Second-placed Wheatley were handed a walkover by Farnham Royal.
In the Premier, Abingdon lost 43-15 at home to leaders Swindon College Old Boys.
