THE condition of Oxford Golf Club’s greens attracted plenty of praise as they hosted an event on the Jamega Pro Golf Tour for the first time.
Martin Woodbridge was the top Oxfordshire finisher, coming joint 30th on four-over in the 36-hole event, which attracted players from across the country.
Huddersfield’s Marcus Armitage, who had a top-five finish on the European Tour last season, won by three shots on eight-under.
He said: “They’re probably the best greens I’ve played on all year – and probably will be for the rest of the year.
“The surface of them was great. I’m really pleased.”
- FOUR Oxfordshire clubs are offering free taster sessions as part of the Girls Golf Rocks campaign.
The initiative is aimed at attracting more girls aged five to 18 into the sport.
