EDDIE Pepperell enjoyed an improved second round at the World Golf Championships in Mexico - but remains well down the field.
The golfer from Abingdon carded a one-under-par 70 at Chapultepec.
It was a big improvement on the first day, where his six-over-par 77 included three double bogeys.
The restricted fields at the WGC events do not have a cut, but the 28-year-old will be playing catch-up over the weekend.
Starting from the tenth on Friday, he dropped a shot on the 12th.
A birdie followed at the 15th, but Pepperell returned to seven-over for the tournament with a bogey two holes later.
He fared better on the front nine, where the only bleming came at the fifth, but the Frilford Heath member made progress by picking up shots at the first, third and ninth.
