EDDIE Pepperell failed to reach the heights of his opening round, but nonetheless looks certain to make the cut in Prague.

The Abingdon golfer, who shot a three-under-par 69 on the first day of the D+D Real Czech Masters, fired a one-over 73 in testing early conditions.

It started well for the Frilford Heath member when he birdied the par-four second.

Ten pars followed, but Pepperell then dropped shots on the 13th and 15th.

However, he fought back with pars on the final three holes.

Play has been abandoned for the day due to adverse weather, with those yet to complete their second round teeing off early tomorrow.

But Pepperell's two-under total of 142 looks certain to secure his place in the latter stages of the European Tour event.
