LAUREN Haynes was sent off as Oxford United’s six-month unbeaten run in the FA Women’s National League ended with a 1-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.
Emily Allen, who scored six goals a week earlier, flashed a shot just wide.
But Argyle made the breakthrough midway through the first half via a hotly-disputed corner.
The U’s were especially aggrieved after it led to a goal and Haynes was booked for her protests.
Within five minutes the skipper picked up a second caution, for a late tackle.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, the U’s pushed hard for an equaliser.
Noble fired a free-kick over, while Cheryl Williams forced a smart save.
But Argyle stood firm amid the late pressure.
United are back in action tomorrow night (7.45), when they visit Southern Premier Division leaders Coventry United.
