FLO Fyfe extended Oxford United’s winning streak with the only goal of the game against Gillingham in the FA Women’s National League.

It was a fourth straight Southern Premier Division victory on the bounce – and the fifth in all competitions.

The breakthrough came five minutes into the second half, when Fyfe drove forward and threaded a low shot into the net for her 12th goal of the season.

United had looked the more dangerous side in a first half which contained few clear-cut goalscoring chances.

Fyfe twice tested visiting goalkeeper Courtney Shanly, who then spilled Emily Allen’s cross, but it was scrambled clear before Georgia Timms could convert.

Gillingham had a golden chance to break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, when Breon Grant went down in the penalty area.

But goalkeeper Lucy Thomas kept out Ellie Manning’s spot kick to keep the scores level.

With United let off the hook, Fyfe then opened the scoring.

Lauren Haynes came closest to doubling the lead in a second half where the home side stayed in control.

Her shot grazed the crossbar, but the home side held firm at the other end to seal the three points.

The win keeps United fourth in the league going into a break.

They are next in action on March 13, away to second-placed Coventry United Ladies.

Oxford Utd: Thomas, Haynes, Mobbs, Allen, Noble, Timms (Williams 89), Fyfe (Hennessy 90), Baker, Sims, Gane, Beaver (Lancaster 82).
