Thatcham Tn 0
North Leigh 1
(Osborne-Ricketts 38)
Elliott Osborne-Ricketts’s cracking 20-yard volley gave North Leigh a 1-0 win at Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West high-fliers Thatcham Town yesterday.
Osborne-Ricketts was on target in the 38th minute after a North Leigh free-kick had been headed out of the area, his sweet strike giving the home keeper no chance.
It was just reward for the visitors after they had started brightly with strikers Morgan Williams and Osborne-Ricketts a constant threat.
Thatcham rallied before the break, and went close with a speculative long-range effort, which grazed a post with keeper Sam Warrell struggling to reach it.
The home side started the second half the stronger, but couldn’t find a way through a resolute North Leigh defence.
And the visitors successfully saw out the game to avenge an FA Carlsberg Trophy defeat by the same opponents ten weeks ago.
North Leigh: Warrell, Hole, Hopkins, Sanders, Franklin. Caton, Willoughby, Clark, Bowles (Burnell 89), Osborne-Ricketts, Williams (Mills 85). Sub not used: Organ.
Attendance: 117.
