OXFORD City’s squad for next season continues to take shape with the signing of winger Nana Owusu.

The 23-year-old joins after an 18-month spell in the Vanarama National League with Maidenhead United.

He joined the Magpies from Basingstoke Town, who gave him his first taste of senior football after coming through the youth set-up at Reading.

Owusu made his mark against City in January, scoring a free-kick in Maidenhead’s Buildbase FA Trophy defeat.

And his set pieces are part of the attraction for City boss Mark Jones.

He told the club’s website: “He first came onto my radar when he was playing for Basingstoke Town, he scored a lot of good goals, particularly direct free-kicks.

“Maidenhead then snapped him up and he has been involved in the league above for the last 18 months.

“He hasn’t perhaps played the games he would have liked to, but he’s been around a good environment, and we’re delighted to secure his signing.

“He gives us good options in the wide areas, I think he’s an exciting player that the supporters will enjoy watching.”
