RYAN Case has been cleared to play for Oxford City tomorrow after the appeal into his red card last weekend was upheld.
But no sooner had boss Mark Jones received the good news, he was hit with the loss of Eddie Jones for the visit to Vanarama National League South leaders Torquay United.
While the defender suffered a hand injury during the 1-0 defeat to Gloucester City a week ago, he trained as normal on Thursday.
But it then swelled up and he is due to spend tonight in hospital.
Mark Jones said: “He woke up and said his hand was double the size, so he might need an operation.
“I’ve changed my team that many times this week it’s incredible.”
City will at least have Case, who was dismissed on his debut for a handball on the line.
Video footage suggested the ball had hit his thigh and the appeal was helped by testimony from referee Scott Jackson.
Jones said: “The referee contacted us on Monday and apologised after watching it back.
“I think his statement helped us.”
