KABONGO Tshimanga scored twice as Oxford City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Wealdstone.

The striker netted his 19th and 20th goals of the season to help Mark Jones’s side bounce back from Boxing Day’s 1-1 draw against Hungerford.

The victory extends City’s unbeaten run to seven games and keeps them in the Vanarama National League South play-off places.

Despite being without Joe Oastler and Zac McEachran due to suspension and injury respectively, the visitors made a superb start.

City took the lead in bizarre fashion after just four minutes, when goalkeeper Jonathan North’s clearance from a backpass cannoned off Tshimanga and into the back of the net.

The visitors went on to dominate and Bobson Bawling was denied by the Wealdstone stopper, before Sam Nombe was prevented from knocking in the loose ball by a last-ditch tackle.

Jack Self’s volley then looped just over as City led 1-0 at the break.

The visitors made a strong start to the second half, Nombe hitting a post.

City had the ball in the back of the net on 52 minutes, when Tshimanga challenged North and defender Jerome Okimo for a long ball, before slotting into an empty net after the Wealdstone duo collided.

But a free-kick was awarded in the home side’s favour.

They made the three points safe on 69 minutes, though, when Bawling back-heeled to Tshimanga, who rifled low past North.

City goalkeeper Craig King tipped over an Okimo header late on, but the visitors comfortably secured victory.
