AFC Hinksey secured the first leg of a possible treble with a 4-1 win over Kidlington Royals in the Critchleys Upper Thames Valley League's Hedley Toms/Michael Brown Trophy final at Abingdon United, writes TIM SIRET.

Hinksey fell behind when Zac McEachran was hauled down in the box, and Ryan Curtin stepped up to smash his spot-kick past Karl Adams.

However, Royals’ lead was short-lived as Hinksey equalised a minute later, with man-of-the-match Kieran Davis finishing off Jelroy Constant’s right-wing cross.

Constant then fired Hinksey ahead, before Steve Haines’s header increased their lead and Davis’s second sealed victory.

Hinksey now turn their sights to the Premier Division title, and the Devenney Cup final against Kings Arms Wheatley at Abingdon Town, on Sunday (6pm).

They took a giant step towards being crowned league champions again with a 2-0 home win against Rover Cowley in midweek.

Constant ran from the halfway line to open the scoring, before Davis clinched victory in the last minute.

Goalkeeper Billy Geddes made three spot-kick saves after Paul Hedger hit a hat-trick as Barton United came from behind to beat AFC Jericho 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out in the Alan Alder Trophy semi-finals.

Marley Joseph’s brace gave the visitors a two-goal lead, before Hedger smashed home two penalties.

He completed his hat-trick with a cracker from outside the box, before Jack Hayhurst’s strike for Jericho made it 3-3 after extra time.

Hedger, Rui Di Garces and Aaron Williams netted from the spot for Barton, with Geddes making penalty saves from Jericho’s Aaron Williams, Tom Allen and Joseph.

Barton will face Kings Arms Wheatley in the final at Abingdon United on Sunday, April 29 (6pm) following their 3-1 win at Dorchester United.

Michael Hinkin gave Dorchester a first-half lead, but Benji Cuff, Francis Mapplethorpe and Luke Cuff netted for Kings Arms, who were reduced to ten men when James Brown saw red for two bookable offences.

Division 2 leaders Cholsey United came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Yellow Eagles in their top-of-the-table battle.

David Philips finished off a good team move to give Eagles the lead, before Thom Airs doubled their tally with a 20-yard chip before the break.

But Cholsey hit back in the second half with Jamie Newport and Michael Littleworth on target to earn a point.

King & Queen Wheatley’s title bid suffered a blow as they surrendered a three-goal lead in crashing to a 4-3 defeat at Saxton Pirates.

Dan Normington, Elliot O’Brien and Guy Lowe gave Wheatley a three-goal cushion.

But Pirates stormed back with Jamie Gass hitting a double and Dean Coster bagging a brace of penalties.

Division 3A leaders Railway Wheatley drew 1-1 at home to Zubry Oxford in their top-of-the-table clash.

Marcin Walendowski’s opener for Zubry just before half-time, was canclled out by Aaron Laman.
