The Tree’s Craig Payne and Tom Eatwell get in each other’s way and the chance goes begging during the defeat by RG Athletic
Two late goals saw The Tree’s hopes of glory dashed with a 3-1 defeat by Reading outfit RG Athletic in the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Trophy final at Abingdon United.
The two sides were locked together at 1-1 with seven minutes left when Dan Little headed home Tim Dawson’s free-kick from 15 yards.
The Tree’s fate was sealed minutes later when RG captain Stuart Doe netted at the far post following another fine Dawson delivery.
The Grove side had fallen behind when Chris Wicks buried a shot 25 yards, but they were level two minutes later through Adam Hogan’s superb free-kick.
