Barton United and AFC Hinksey are in hot water after their stormy Division 1 top-of-the-table encounter en-ded in two red cards and crowd trouble.

As a result, league chiefs have launched an enquiry with the teams ordered to appear before a disciplinary panel on May 16.

The game ended in a 4-1 win for Hinksey and means they can win the title with victory at third-placed Kings Arms Wheatley on Sunday – which will be played at a neutral venue, Sutton Courtenay.

With goal difference not counting, a draw would mean a three-way play-off for the first time in the league’s history.

A double from Kieran Davies and a Marlon James strike saw Hinksey storm into a 3-0 lead.

Just before the break, Mark Scanes clawed one back.

But it was all over as a contest when Julian McCalmon netted No 4 for Hinksey.

Barton were then reduced to ten men when Dean Simms was red-carded for using foul and abusive language.

And they were down to nine when Liam O’Callaghan was dismissed for two bookings.

Late on, a drink-fuelled Barton fan invaded the pitch and confronted the referee.

League press officer Tim Siret said: “For 80 minutes it was fine.

“Barton needed a point to win the league and then they had two sent off.

“Right at the end the supporter came on and had a go at the ref and me.

“Luckily, the Barton goalkeeper is a policeman and escorted him away.

“Although the game was played at Brasenose, Hinksey were essentially the home side, so controlling the crowd is their responsibility.

“We have a zero tolerance on alcohol and we will deal with it severely. You can’t have people drinking and coming on to the pitch.”

In league action, Standlake Garage ended a miserable season in Division 1 after they slid to a 6-4 defeat against OUP Wanderers.

Garage led 3-0 through Chris Owen (2) and Luke Kelly.

But Damien Dean, Matty Parris-Wellman, Tom Payne, Luke Murphy and James Gray saw the visitors lead 5-3.

After the break, a Karl Dickinson penalty reduced the arrears, only for Ollie Burrows to seal it with No 6. Division 2 champions AFC Jericho beat Oxford FC 3-2.

Aaron Williams (penalty) and Marley Joseph gave Jericho a 2-0 lead, only for a Sekou Bangoura double to level it up.

However, Williams headed his second to seal victory for Jericho.

Mansfield Road finished third after a 3-1 win at Research Machines, with Max Burton (penalty), Karim Seekat and Ben Steptoe. Ben Sherlock replied.
