Kings Arms Wheatley shrugged off their Devenney Cup final defeat by lifting the Upper Thames Valley League's Hedley Toms/Michael Brown Trophy with a 3-0 victory over AFC Hinksey, writes TIM SIRET.

Luke Cuff got on the end of a long clearance from keeper Harry Jenkins to slot home King Arms’s opener in the 36th minute of the final atAbingdon United.

Wheatley manager Steve Skyrme introduced winger Jay Hill midway through the second half, and he finished off a fine through ball from James Luckett on 70 minutes.

Shaun Jacobs sealed victory for Kings Arms in the final minute when referee Doug Williamson played advantage, allowing him to get up and score after he had been fouled by keeper Karl Adams.

Kings Arms’s Adam Simmonds was named as the man- of-the-match.

It completed a disappointing week for AFC Hinksey after their Premier Division title hopes had suffered a setback with a 2-2 draw away to Dorchester United.

Hinksey had to twice come from behind with goals from Jelroy Constant and Jemaine Ferreira cancelling out strikes by David Murphy and a John Boal penalty. It leaves Hinksey needing to beat top two Barton United and Kings Arms in their final two games to be crowned champions.

Johnny James, playing probably his last game for Sutton Revolution, hit a hat-trick in a 4-3 win at Division 1 runners- up Mason Arms – but his side may still be relegated. Neil Morris also scored for Sutton.

Andrew Pantry was a hat-trick hero as Oxford FC thrashed relegated Rutherford Lab 9-0 in Division 2.

Henry Alkali and Sekou Bangoura hit doubles, with Fama Mara and Fred Kamaley completing the rout.

Marc Gass bagged a brace in Saxton Pirates’s 4-1 win at Research Machines.

Rich Willans and Ben Parry also netted with Nathan Brown replying.

Blacks Head Bletchingdon came from behind to beat rivals King & Queen Wheatley 3-2 and claim the runners-up spot and promotion from Division 3A.

James Beesley fired King & Queen ahead, but Andy White’s double and a Chris Thorne strike turned the game, before Ben Beresford pulled one back.

Railway Wheatley manager Nick Rogers ended his reign on a high note with a 3-2 home victory over Iffley Harriers.

Shaun Liptrot, Jordan Reid and James Keeble netted for Railway, with James Keeble and Robin Owen replying.

Zubry Oxford reached the Alan Alder Trophy final with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out play-off win over Brightwell.

The teams were locked together at 1-1 after extra time, with Rafal Popiolek scoring for Zubry, and Daniel Keeler replying.

Maciel Palka hit the winning spot-kick.

THE UTV League’s representative side were beaten in a penalty shoot-out by the Tony Bagnall Abba Select XI after a 4-4 draw in a charity game at Bicester Town.

The game was in aid of Private Patrick Burn, who lost both legs in an explosion in Afghanistan’s Helmand province, and the family of Warrant Officer Charles Henry Woods, who was killed in Helmand.
