OXFORD Yellows boo-ked their place in the final for the third season on the bounce thanks to a last-gasp penalty from Tom Gaughan which gave them a thrilling 5-4 victory over Kings Arms Wheatley.

With the game poised at 4-4 and extra-time imminent, Ryan Brooks was tripped in the box and after the referee pointed to the spot, Gaughan made no mistake.

Brooks, Kyle McCoy, Joey Beauchamp and Damien Perks had scored the four previous goals, with Wheatley’s strikes coming from a Luke Cuss (2), Shaun Jacob and Neil Lockhart.

Yellows will be favourites for the final when they take on AFC Cowley, who beat Banbury Spurs 4-1.

Spurs, who had dumped last year’s winners Barton United out in an earlier round, were given a let-off when Nick Thorne missed an early penalty for Cowley.

But their joy was short-lived as a superb display from substitute striker Dominic Bruno stole the show.

Bruno netted twice, once from the penalty spot, to add to strikes from Daniel Richmond and Aaron Barrett.

The final will be held at Oxford City’s Court Place Farm ground on April 4 (2pm).
