Mid Oxon suffered heartbreak in the English Schools’ FA Under 15 Trophy with a 9-8 defeat in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Nuneaton at Hook Norton FC.

The two sides were locked together at 3-3 after extra time in the third round clash, and Mid Oxon had a chance to win the tie with their fifth penalty.

But they failed to take it and Nuneaton kept their nerve to triumph in sudden death.

It was a cruel exit for Mid Oxon, who had led 3-1 in normal time thanks to a Julius Muraga hat-trick.

He opened the scoring with an emphatic finish from their first attack.

Darren Wardle equalised for Nuneaton, but Muraga fired Mid Oxon ahead again before the break.

He completed his hat-trick midway through the second half with a penalty awarded for handball.

Wardle grabbed his second for Nuneaton, and then Charlie Stockton equalised in the dying minutes to force extra time.
