Division 3 underdogs Clanfield 85 pulled off a shock as they dumped last season's runners-up Saxton Rovers out of the Devenney Cup with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory.

The sides had been locked at 2-2 after extra-time, before it went down to a nerve-tingling finale.

James Brown put Rovers into an early lead, but Clanfield's Steve Reynolds equalised after a deflected shot was dropped by the Rovers' keeper.

But he made amends by saving Rovers' final effort, after Steve Brazier had given Clanfield a 5-4 lead.

A tremendous 25 yard free-kick by Ben Podd and a solo effort from Adam Godwin put Exiles 2-0 up at the break.

But Sandman back hit back to win thanks to goals from Kieran Russell reserve striker Steve King and Justin Helmsley.

JP's came close to causing another cup shock as they lost 2-1 at Wheatley Park, who took the lead through Francis Mapplethorpe Craig O'Connor chipped over Park keeper Alex John to equalise, but Jay Hill restored Wheatley's lead. Tom Butler then won a penalty for JP's, but his spot-kick was superbly turned away by John.

In the last four, Wheatley face Abingdon Casuals, while Clanfield 85 take on Sandman.

Dorchester United's Division 2 promotion hopes suffered a blow when they lost 3-2 to close rivals Kidlington Royals, despite goals from Ian Marshall and Lee Allmond.
