SOUTH Oxfordshire Amateurs break new ground when they play their first match at Wormsley tomorrow.
The county’s leading wandering club are playing Sir Paul Getty’s XI at the late magnate’s ground, near Stokenchurch.
Getty’s XI, led by the Oscar-winning film director Sam Mendes, will include TV cricket analyst Simon Hughes and former Surrey all-rounder Jamie Benning.
The SOA, led by their president Chris Hutton (an old schoolmate of Mendes), include three of this season’s century-makers – Robbie Eason (Horspath), Nick Pykett (Tiddington) and Greg Pearson (Sandford St Martin).
The match will be followed by the SOA’s annual dinner in a marquee on the ground, where the guest speaker will be Sir Tim Rice.
