A DEVASTATING spell of 6-23 by Jonny Law set up Oxford Downs’ seven-wicket victory at home to Tiddington in the second round of the Davidstow Village Cup.
Tiddington were dismissed for 118 in 34.4 overs. The only batsman to defy Law was Will Goodman with 43.
Downs knocked off the runs in just 14.2 overs thanks to James Ellwood (58no) and Will Watts (33no).
In the next round, Downs will be at home to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts, who beat Cropredy by four wickets.
Despite Eddie Somerton’s 64, Cropredy were dismissed for 106, before Chris Day’s 57 guided Nondies to victory.
In the clash of the Home Counties Premier League side’s, Aston Rowant defeated hosts Horspath by 21 runs.
Tim Morgan (56) and Chris Watling (35) took Rowant to 174-9.
Shahbaz Ali (39) and Steve Green (31) kept Horspath in the game, but Richard Cook (5-50) and Adam Muttitt (3-31) bowled them out for 153.
Rowant are now at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood, who received a walkover from Kingston Bagpuize.
