WES Morrick again proved his value as Division 2 title-chasers Aston Rowant got back on track with a nervy four-wicket victory at home to Amersham.
Chasing 160 for victory, Rowant looked in danger of suffering a second successive defeat when they slumped to 94-6, despite James McDougall’s 49.
But all-rounder Morrick then scored 38 from 51 balls, and in partnership with Chris Watling (22no), saw Rowant to 163-6 in the 42nd over.
The victory keeps Rowant seven points clear of Datchet, who won by six wickets at Shipton-under-Wychwood.
Opener Craig Wood starred for Shipton with 96 from 151 balls with two sixes and ten fours as they made 217-7 from their 50 overs.
Wood shared a fourth-wicket stand of 144 with Anupam Sanklecha (69) after Shipton had slipped to 16-3, having put in to bat.
Despite losing a wicket to the second ball of their reply, Datchet eased to 218-4 from 44 overs thanks to a classy 117 not out from opener Simon Macey.
Thame Town secured a nail-biting one-wicket win at Harefield
Set 230 for victory, the visitors were indebted to Gamindu Kanishka’s 84 and a tense unbroken last-wicket stand of 13 between Michael Higgs and Will Rooney for getting home with one over to spare.
Earlier, Harefield had scored 229-9 from their 50 overs, Will Rooney taking 3-52 for Thame.
