HORSPATH cruised to a nine-wicket win at Chesham in the first round of the ECB National Club Championship.

Batting first, the home side posted 183-7 in their 40 overs.

Tom Cosford was the pick of their bowlers, taking 3-30 in seven overs.

The target proved no issue for the visitors, who eased in at 187-1 with more than ten overs left.

Tom Coleman hit 85 not out from 87 balls and James Phillips took just 60 deliveries to make 73.

Banbury posted a routine 70-run win against Beaconsfield.

Ed Phillips (75) and Josh Megson (65) shared a 147-run partnership to help Banbury recover from 36-4 to set 213-7 in their 40 overs.

Beaconsfield never looked like threatening a successful chase and fell to 143 all out.

Graham Beer, Lloyd Sabin, George Tait and Dave Eaton all claimed two wickets apiece.

Aston Rowant were beaten by Ealing in their tie.

Batting first, the Londoners posted 212-8, James Coles taking 3-20.

Opener Andrew Tolson struck 52 in Rowant’s reply, but despite a stand of 81 with Coles (40) they fell for 156 in the 38th over.

Oxford conceded their first-round match against Ealing, as did Great & Little Tew against Henley.
