TWO-time National Village Cup champions Shipton-under-Wychwood fell at the first Oxfordshire round as hosts Minster Lovell eased to a

seven-wicket win.

Shipton chose to bat first, and racked up 250-9 in their 40 overs as Andy Hemming hit 67 and Charlie Miller 60, Connor Tinsley taking 4-44 for the hosts.

A magnificent opening stand of 162 between Elliot Graham and Nathan Harris (64) set Minster well on the way.

Graham carried his bat for an unbeaten 101 from 105 balls as the home side reached 252-3 with three overs remaining.

It set up a second round trip to Horley, who beat Steeple Aston by 119 runs.

Last season’s Oxfordshire champions Oxford Downs lost by four wickets at Tiddington.

Alex Ling top-scored with 52 in Downs’s 174 all out, Jordan Davis taking 4-22 and Nick Pykett 4-37.

In reply, Tiddington’s Will Cooper hit 87, including six sixes, to steer his side to 177-6 with more than five overs remaining.

Cropredy restricted visitors Aston Rowant to 136-8 in their 40 overs as Jake Heath took a five-wicket haul.

Saim Hussain (56) and Joe Fox (30no) then saw Cropredy to a five-wicket win.

Elsewhere, Horspath eased to a 99-run victory against Kingston Bagpuize after setting 203-6.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts received a bye as Great & Little Tew conceded their fixture.
