SAMMY Lachan captured seven wickets as Thame all but guaranteed their safety with a thrilling two-wicket victory over fellow- strugglers Burnham on Saturday.
Lachlan, who finished with figures of 7-61, ripped Burnham apart with an aggressive display of bowling, ably assisted by Luke Merry and his dad Steve, as Burnham posted 158.
After Chris Wynd went for a duck, skipper Adam Krol and coach Manoj Parmar dug in and remained patient to get the score to 40 before Parmar was caught behind just before tea for a classy 23.
When Rob Brooks was out to an excellent Ahmed delivery for eight, Thame were 54-3, but Bucks keeper Andy Wynd joined his skipper.
While Krol just looked to keep Burnham at bay, Wynd was aggressive and hit boundaries all around the park.
Krol was out for 21 and after Luke Merry was bowled by Ahmed, Thame's run chase looked difficult.
Wynd was finally out for 43 and Lachlan and Rob Layton looked to nudge the ball around.
Lachlan was harshly out run out, but Rob Layton held his nerve and showed his quality as needing three off the last over and one off the last delivery, smashed the ball over mid off to complete a thrilling win.
