KIDLINGTON skipper David Taylor smashed an unbeaten 82 as he steered his side to victory against strugglers Aston Rowant at Stratfield Brake.

The result keeps Kidlington, who face leaders Tring Park next weekend, firmly in the hunt for promotion from Division 2 West.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat under a cloudless blue sky.

But before long, Josh Lalor was ripping through the top order to reduce them to 12-3.

Skipper David Taylor also took two wickets as Kidlington bowled out Aston Rowant for just 140 in the 51st over, with Paul Plumridge providing the only significant resistance, scoring 61.

The home side needed just under 25 overs to get to the target, with Taylor showing his customary aggression to smash 82 not out as his side won with seven wickets to spare.
