AN eight-wicket haul from fast bowler Jack Brooks helped Oxford to a hard-fought win at Falkland on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Oxford inserted the opposition and immediately put them under pressure.
Philip Evans and Brooks produced an excellent opening spell.
And, along with support from Rupert Evans and Shamilal Mendis, Oxford reduced Falkland to 81-5.
After lunch, Falkland came out fighting and started to build some momentum until Jack Brooks returned to the attack and picked up the two key wickets of Chapman and Aktar.
Brooks bowled superbly and cleaned up the tail to finish with career-best figures of 8-65 off 20.5 overs.
Chasing a target of 207 for victory, Simon Hole got Oxford off to an excellent start with a superb display of batting.
After losing a couple of early wickets and skipper Jason Harrison retiring hurt, Joe Porter joined Hole and put on 58 until Hole was out stumped for 68.
Having batted resolutely, Porter was out for 57 leaving the remaining 15 runs needed for victory.
John Williams saw the side over the finishing line.
