HOLDERS Oxfordshire Over 50s B cruised into the final of the Southern Counties Seniors Championship with a nine-wicket victory over Cornwall at Aston Rowant.

In a one-sided semi-final, the visitors were shot out for just 79 in 37.5 overs.

Left-arm seamer Neil Wilkins did most of the damage with a spell of 4-12.

He was well-supported by Steve Kelly, who took 3-2 from 2.5 overs, and Chris Panter (2-12).

Oxon eased to 80-1 in 20.4 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 41 from opener Ian Harris and 26 not out by Sam Mendes.

In the final, Oxon will take on Gloucestershire at Trowbridge on September 8 (2), hoping to retain the trophy.

However, the Over 60s lost their National County Championship semi-final by five wickets at Shropshire.

Ian Caunce (48) and Derek Watts (47) led the way as Oxon posted 214-7 from their 45 overs at Shrewsbury.

But John Foster’s superb unbeaten 127 proved the difference for the home side, ending an impressive season for the visitors.

Oxon’s under 15 girls lost by 100 runs to Warwickshire in Group 4 of the ECB Women’s County Championship.

The hosts posted 121-4, Lily Priscott taking 2-22 and Nashwa Shah 2-21.

But Oxon were dismissed for just 21 in reply.
