NIGEL Hume was the star of the show as Faringdon lifted the Airey Cup with a resounding seven-wicket victory over Wolvercote in Monday’s final.

Hume was awarded the man-of-the-match trophy after a scintillating innings of 77 off 54 balls led Faringdon to victory inside 27 overs.

Wolvercote batted first in the final at Stonesfield.

But they were restricted to 139 all out as Rob Owen took 5-36, Mike Hume 2-18 and Will Oglesby 2-45.

Faringdon lost two early wickets as Owen fell for a duck and Rob Brown for 11.

But Nigel Hume produced a brilliant knock to put Faringdon well on course for victory.

They wrapped it up with Jack Tomes finishing 28 not out and Will Oglesby unbeaten on 15.
