GEMMA Bridge takes to the track for her first international competition of the year at the Indoor Elán meeting in Bratislava, Slovenia, this weekend.
The Oxford City AC athlete, who was runner-up in the sportswoman of the year category at last Friday’s Oxfordshire Sports Awards, is bidding for glory in the 3,000m race walk on Sunday.
Bridge will be hoping to build on a strong start to 2018 after winning the senior title at the England Athletics Combined Events Championships in Sheffield by 21 seconds earlier this month.
The 24-year-old, who is preparing for April’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia, is part of a 21-strong England team heading to central Europe for this weekend’s event.
