OXFORDSHIRE’S girls returned from the English Schools’ Track & Field Championships with silverware.

The senior team impressed in Birmingham to win the team trophy for Group C counties.

Isobel Griffin Morris threw 42.25m to win silver in the discus, while teammate Luisa Chantler Edmond was fourth with 40.79.

Emily Thompson also claimed silver as she took second in the 800m in a time of 2mins 6.71secs.

In the high jump, Katie Hetherington missed out on a bronze medal by 3cm.

Rachel Burton shaved 11 seconds off her personal best when finishing sixth in the inter girls 1,500m steeplechase in 5.16.86.

In the boys event, Oyare Aneju recorded a national standard of 12.43m in the junior triple jump, finishing seventh.

The last track event of the competition saw Seb Hartwell, Oliver Stacey, Effiom Edet and Matthew Johnson take third in the senior boys 4x100m relay.
