Oxford were indebted to the deadly Dans as they recorded a 6-4 win at home to Henley in an entertaining game in Regional Division 1 on Saturday.

Dan Smyth bagged a hat-trick and Dan Bleach a brace as Oxford got back on track.

After going behind, Oxford hit back to lead 3-1, thanks to two goals from Smith and one from Bleach.

While Oxford’s Matt McKeown was off the field having treatment to a facial injury, Henley made it 3-2 and would have equalised but for a great save from home keeper Chris Mitty.

The scoring continued apace after the break with Smyth completing his hat-trick, while the visitors netted twice to make it 4-4.

The turning point came ten minutes from time when a Henley played was red-carded after being adjudged to have caught Kit Cutter deliberately in the face with his stick.

Oxford made the man advantage pay, through Bleach’s second score, before the same player set up Cutter for their sixth goal.

In the same division, Wallingford bounced back from last week’s defeat by Oxford Hawks 2nd with a 2-1 win at Aylesbury.

Alun Lloyd gave Wallingford the half-time lead.

But the visitors equalised in the second half, during which the hosts were shown three yellow cards, before Horatio Cary snatched a late winner.

Oxford Hawks twice came from behind to draw 2-2 away to Spencer in the Premier Division.

Spencer led 1-0 at the break, but with Andy Seiman and Kieran Roche working hard in midfield, Hawks equalised through Dave Cresswell from a short corner.

Spencer regained the lead, before a super run and reverse-stick shot by Seiman earned Hawks a deserved point.

This would have three but for some fine late saves from the Spencer keeper.

Ben Wells scored four goals as Witney beat Amersham & Chalfont 6-2 to go third in Regional Division 2.

Dan Andrews and skipper Tim Hardy also netted to seal Witney's win.

Rich Beer and Ben White both scored doubles as Oxford 2nd defeated hosts South Bucks 6-3, their other goals coming from James Lawton Smith and Callum MacKenzie.
