Oxford Stadium stewards called a preliminary inquiry into the running of the Terry Atkins-trained Roadstown Barr at Sunday’s BAGS meeting.

An investigation was launched after the hound won by nine and a quarter lengths in 27.53secs. The dog went off at 7-2 and was not supported on the rails.

Barr had not won a race in 18 months and was recently back from a lay-off.

He had improved only 43 spots on his best time, and although the stewards had the right to call an inquiry, it was probably a freak showing on the day.
