SANDFORD St Martin’s relegation was sealed when they were crushed by in-form Abingdon Vale.

Openers Akheam Fox (47) and James Boon (44) gave Vale a good start, which was built on by David Dyer (51no) before Vale declared on 225-4 after 50 overs.

Mike Cook (3-9) and Joe Butcher (3-26) then combined to dismiss Sandford for only 64, of which Martin Anson made 32.

Morning leaders Oxford 2nd relinquished top spot after being thrashed at Tiddington.

Oxford were bundled out for 127, which would have been even worse without Mark Sheehan’s 49.

Will Cooper (50) and Sammy Thomson (40no) then scored steadily as the hosts reached 130-1 from 34 overs.

Challow & Childrey are now level on points with Oxford 2nd after enjoying the better of a high-scoring draw with Oxford Downs 2nd that ended in a tense finale.

Challow gambled by declaring on 277-5 from 47 overs after Alex Hill (88), Adam Tucker (48) and Conor Taylor (40) all scored quickly.

Paddy Daniel (80) kept Downs in the game after the interval, but Taylor (4-56) and Joe Harris (3-34) left them teetering on 252-9.

Challow 19, Oxford Downs 2nd 8

Twyford climbed back to the top after dominating their draw with Long Marston.

First they racked up 246-9 dec from 50 overs, Tanveer Nadeem hitting 64, while Pete Toovey wheeled away to finish with 6-110.

Then Twyford restricted the visitors to 161-5, with Tokeer Hussain taking 3-53 and James Beesley scoring 67.

Twyford 16, Long Marston 7

Marston drop into the bottom two after Aston Rowant 2nd won for the second time in three weeks, this time at Woverton Town.

Rowant made 233-9 thanks to Tom Needham (82) and Paul Plumridge (66), while Hakim Khan claimed 3-67.

Aky Hussain then hit 56 and Kieran Lampard 42, but Town tumbled to 183 all out from 41 overs after Gordon Harris took 4-55 and England under 19 ladies’ seamer Linsey Smith claimed 3-54.
