ALLAN Hall and Bob Joiner secured their first domestic competition victories at the Oxfordshire Bowling Association finals at Peppard BC.
Hall trailed 7-4 to Brian Bloomfield after nine ends and 11-10 after 16 ends of their Officers Cup final, before fighting back to win 21-17 in a 28-end marathon.
Joiner’s victory over Will Soden was equally as dramatic.
He eventually won 21-20 after 21 ends in a match that swung both ways.
Joiner led 9-6 after seven ends, but then found himself 11-10 down after 11 and 15-14 behind after 14.
However, a four in end 15 proved crucial, and he managed to close out victory.
Ian Whelpton was the other winner, seeing off Richard Claridge 21-12 in the Longford Cup after a devastating final three ends.
It looked like going to the wire with Whelpton 13-12 ahead, but a run of two, four, four saw him race to home to reclaim the crown that he last won in 2010.
